CERCLA (Superfund)

Locus Technologies offers a unique combination of professional services, including permitting, engineering, construction, and operation and maintenance capabilities to perform remedial investigations and feasibility studies (RI/FS) and remedial design and remedial action (RD/RA) at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) hazardous waste sites. Our engineers have been involved in site investigations and site remediation assessments for more than 20 years, covering the full range of activities, from field investigations through data analysis, evaluation, engineering design, construction, and operation and maintenance. Locus' engineers and scientists worked on more than 200 Superfund sites natinwide.

We undertake RI/FS studies with a thorough knowledge and understanding of current environmental regulation and permit requirements. Locus has completed numerous projects requiring extensive interaction with regulatory agency personnel, as well as presentations at public meetings. Locus assists clients in negotiations with regulatory agencies.

Our feasibility studies are conducted in accordance with CERCLA requirements, guidance documents, and any applicable state and local regulations. The Locus staff is particularly sensitive to the development of site-specific health, safety, and quality assurance plans, as well as to community relations support. We negotiate with regulatory agencies to optimize the selected remedy to appropriate levels for the risk involved.

Our design documents undergo constructibility review by experienced construction staff. We also have a team of estimators who can produce a detailed cost estimate for the selected design.

Guided by a complete understanding of state and federal regulations, Locus construction managers have completed many site remediation projects. With this broad contracting capability, Locus successfully manages metals, PCBs, dioxins, furans, pesticides, and all types of organic and inorganic chemicals in soil and groundwater. We provide decontamination management services for soil, groundwater, equipment, buildings, and roadways.

Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of all work is ensured by our in-house corporate QA/QC program for our investigative and analytical efforts. Through this corporate program, Locus prepares written, site-specific QA/QC plans for each remedial investigation project undertaken.
